The Air Chek short-term radon in air test measures the level of radon gas in your home over a period of 3 to 7 days. The device absorbs airborne radon while it hangs in your chosen room. Once the exposure period is complete, you mail it to our certified radon laboratory for professional analysis.
Place the device in the lowest livable level of your home—typically a basement or ground floor. Choose a central area away from drafts, exterior doors, heating vents, and high-humidity spots like bathrooms or kitchens.
You should receive your results within 1 - 2 business days, depending on shipping and lab volume. You can also track the test results and get a full analysis online at Radon.com.
Your test results will show the radon level in picocuries per liter (pCiL). The number reflects the average amount of radon detected during the 3 – 7 day testing period. If the pCi/L is 4.0 or higher, the EPA recommends you conduct additional testing and consult a licensed radon mitigation professional.
You can find a radon professional near you. They will be able to confirm the results for you with additional testing, and if necessary, install a radon mitigation system to reduce exposure.
There are radon professionals all throughout the U.S. and they are easy to get in touch with. You can visit Radon.com’s directory of radon professionals to find one nearest to you.
